Here is my final of the temple with the extra additions that weren't in the directions. I created the peak with a torus and a cone. I changed the roof by making the main piece a bit skinnier and taller so that there would be room for the extra ring. I also made the pillars taller too. And finally, to create the stairs I used cube shapes, grouped them and used "Duplicate Special" so that I could rotate it 90 degrees around the origin three times to complete the full circle.
I messed around with lighting for fun and got this as a result. It looks a lot better with the lighting!
